One of the great (and only) positives to come out of this Covid phase, has been the amount of people finding themselves inspired to finally live out their dream.

One example of this has been the creation of Noosa Sourdough Co – from a few loaves made in a kitchen, to the launch of an incredible business selling dehydrated Sourdough starter packs all over the world.

When we met Liz, the founder of Noosa Sourdough Co, her dream was still something racing around in her head. She knew what she wanted to do, but had no idea how to make any of it happen.

Well, lucky she found us!

The very first step was designing her an e-book that could be sent to new customers. She was selling starters on Facebook marketplace and had a Word Doc that she was using to explain the in’s and out’s of making a sourdough loaf. She needed branding and a logo, something that would express everything she imagined her new baby to be.

Once that e-book was done, we were able to knuckle down into how her business was going to “look”, as branding is not where it begins and ends.

How was she going to be able to package and market her dehydrated starter in a way that fit with her ethics and sustainability principles?

What materials was she going to use that would contribute TO the planet, instead of the destruction of it?

How would her product “look” when in a store and how could it stand out from every other product on the market?

We all knew we were aligned with sustainability, and although some elements of the packaging will be a work in progress (the inner bag will eventually be compostable) we needed the initial pouches and display boxes to be cardboard and recycled paper where possible.

Our graphic designers were able to design her branding to fit the measurements of a display box, so that the product message was easily understandable and eye-catching. The pouches also had to be able to be mailed globally, so we designed all the measurements to be posted easily, and be durable.

Our Product Designer from Product Lab was called in to design a bespoke box concept so that Liz could control the dimensions and have the pouches sit perfectly in the box. This concept was not used in the end result as we found an alternative method to bring down the cost, but being able to access a designer that can produce “design to fit” products gives our customers more options than Jo Bloggs.

The next step was to create a website that Noosa Sourdough Co would be able to use as a contact page, a FAQ’s port and also be able to link up to an online store. We were able to set it up initially to connect through to an eBay store, with the infrastructure to upgrade a fully enabled WooCommerce online store when Liz got busier.

From the website we connected Liz with an automated email campaign, that sends the Sourdough E-book to all her new customers when they purchase the dehydrated starter pack. This cuts down the admin time for Liz, and lets her focus on the production of the starter. It also automatically adds her customers to an email list, enabling her to tag and segment her contacts for email marketing.

Once her online store is ready to go, we will design and manage her digital marketing campaigns, with retargeting ads, abandoned cart targeting, Google Ads for new business and lead magnet content. Liz just has to focus on what she does best, and leave us to do what we do best!
